Muscat Hosts Oman-South Africa Business Forum

Oman (Muscat) - The Omani-South African Business Forum kicked off today in the main office of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in the presence of Yusuf Salejee, accredited ambassador of South Africa to the Sultanate, Abdul-Adhim bin Abbas al-Bahrani, OCCI General Manager, Augustine Mandigora, Chief Executive Officer of trade industries in South African Business Association and a number of businessmen from the two sides.

The South African ambassador pressed the deep-rooted historical relations between the Sultanate and South Africa that should be invested in developing the economic relations, establishing the successful commercial cooperation between Oman and South Africa.

The ambassador pointed out that the forum is a practical step toward the economic interaction between the governmental and private sector enterprises in the two countries as it will take part in setting up significant business and economic relations, in addition to its role in crystallizing the concept of the desired economic partnership between the two sides for consolidating the outcome of the joint trade in the gross economic product in the two states.

He also confirmed the significant of the joint meetings, forums and exhibitions for informing the investors about the investment opportunities, facilities and the legal trade frames that determine the safe atmosphere for trade.

During the forum, two working papers were presented about the investment climate in the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of South Africa.

Several bilateral meetings were held during the forum between the businessmen from both sides. The meetings focused on defining the characteristics and opportunities given by each business sector, as well as, discussing the ways of holding the joint agreements and striking existing or new investments.  (ONA)
