Oman Hosts Conference on Neurological and Spinal Surgery

Oman (Muscat) - Mohammed bin Hassan bin Ali, Undersecretary of the Health Ministry for Planning Affairs partronized at Crowne Plaza Hotel the opening of the fifth annual conference on Neurological and Spinal Surgery (NSS) organized by the Health Ministry, represented by the National Neurological and Spinal Surgery Centre at Khoulah Hospital in collaboration with the Omani Neurosurgical Society and lasts for two days.

The Undersecretary of the Health Ministry for Planning Affairs delivered a speech where he highlighted the developments witnessed by the neurosurgery services from the establishment of the neurosurgery department at Khoulah hospital in the 80s till date. The number of specialized beds for this specialty at Khoulah hospital now stands at 50.

He added that the hospital has now two operation rooms for neurosurgery, in addition to 22 beds allocated for ICU.

The conference aims at highlighting the latest developments and the international experiences in this field. It also aims at exchange of expertise among surgeons from the Sultanate and other parts of the world.

The conference will cast light on the skull base, cerebral vascular, brain tumor, pediatric neurological and spinal surgeries.

More than 200 neurosurgeons, physiotherapists, staff at intensive care unit, anesthesia, operations and emergency departments from different parts in the Sultanate and representatives of a number of private institutions in the AGCC countries take part at the conference.

Speakers from the Sultanate, Saudi Arabia, Emirates, Yemen, Bahrain, India, Pakistan, Germany, United Kingdom (U.K) and Canada will give lectures during the conference. (ONA)
