The private sector is very important for reviving the Egyptian national economy, said Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Fayza Abul Naga.

At a meeting with the director of the International Finance Corporation for Middle East and North Africa, Abul Naga underlined the importance of governmental support of the business community to push up the development process. She also underlined the necessity of removing all obstacles to investments in Egypt.

Meanwhile, Abul-Naga received Tuesday an Australian agriculture research delegation. The meeting took up ways to expand Egyptian-Australian cooperation in the field of modern technology to augment agricultural production and animal wealth.

Trade Unionist Rights Should Be Protected
Manpower Minister Ahmed el-Boraei on Tuesday 15/3/2011 promised to protect trade unionist rights.

“We have already started liberating trade unions, but it is still a long way to go," he said.

“There will be no retreat," el-Boraei told manpower directorate chiefs at a meeting. He gave directives to them to pay attention to workers' conditions at this critical stage. As for Egyptian workers returning from Libya, the minister said they will fill in free applications to have their rights protected.

As for how to deal with labor protests and sit-ins, he ordered the manpower directorate chiefs to negotiate with protesters without halting work. He urged them to do their best to convince employers to adopt a 15-percent pay rise announced by the government. (SIS)
