Oman: 300 Companies from 30 Countries Participate in Big Show 2011

Oman (Muscat) - Activities of the "Big Show 2011," kicked off at Oman International Exhibitions Centre (OIEC) today under the patronage of Eng. Sultan bin Hamdoon al Harthy, Chairman of Muscat Municipality in the presence of undersecretaries, a number of officials at the governmental and private sectors and representatives of the participant companies in the exhibition.  The three-day event is being organized by Omanexpo affiliated to Sabco Group.

Eng. al Harthy and the attendees toured the exhibition's sections in which 300 local and international companies are taking part, representing 30 countries.  The exhibition included a wide range of building materials, ceramics, tiles, cement products, curtains, furnishings, doors, windows, equipment, electronics, firefighting items, building surveillance system, heavy equipment, internal decoration, kitchen items, lights, metal, aluminum and steel items, woodwork, amongst other building and construction products.

A conference will be held on the sidelines of the exhibition.  The conference will tackle materials used in green buildings by focusing on the feasibility of these buildings, their cost, their effectiveness in a number of projects; one of which is being presented on reality and issues related to civil engineering, of which will be the theme of the lecture.

Sayyid Ayman bin Hamad bin Hamoud al Busaidi, Deputy Chairman of Sabco Group's Board said that organizing the exhibition comes and the Sultanate is witnessing leap in construction sector through implementing a number of civil and infrastructure projects.  The exhibition avails an opportunity to familiarize closely with the latest modern technologies in the field.

In a statement to journalists, he pointed out that rebranding the "Interiors & Buildex," exhibition to the "Big Show," aims at expanding the coverage to a number of sector pertaining to construction, attracting more displayers and products, besides organizing a conference that aims at enhancing dialogue on modern technologies with participation of concerned departments at the governmental and private sectors.
