Kuwait University to establish Computer Science, Engineering Faculty

KUWAIT - The cabinet, in its weekly meeting, approved a number of draft laws regarding agreements with other countries as well as the establishment of a Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at Kuwait University (KU).

The cabinet, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, approved draft laws over patents for the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and an agreement over illegitimate acts related to civil aviation and suppressin illegal confiscation of airplanes.

Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Roudhan Al-Roudhan, in a statement after the meeting, said the cabinet approved an agreement with China regarding exemption of tax on income generated by the sea transportation companies.

The cabinet members, he noted, approved in principle a request by the Ministry of Justice to sign two draft agreements with France.

The council of ministers, said Al-Roudhan, approved draft laws over air services agreement with Mauritania, economic and technical cooperation agreement with Armenia, and a protocol over foreign direct investment with Tunisia.

Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shimali briefed the cabinet, on the other hand, over the process of addressing defaulter citizens.

The cabinet, meanwhile, took note of letters to His Highness the Amir from King Abdullah II of Jordan, President of Senegal, President of Singapore, General Governor of Canada, Japanese Prime Minister, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vice-President of the Philippines on means of boosting bilateral ties.
