Egypt, Saudi Arabia to Issue Power Linkage Tender

Ministries of electricity in Egypt and Saudi Arabia decided to make a tender to erect Egyptian-Saudi power linkage project by the mid of April 2011, said Minister of Electricity and Energy Hassan Younis.

The project is to be carried out as of January 2012. Younis said that the project is a sort of power exchange between the two countries.

The exchange capability would reach 3000 megawatt in summer.

Egypt, Jordan power linkage project:
Egypt and Jordan are seeking to quickly implement a power linkage project to increase the capacities of exchanged electricity to 1,000 megawatts.

Electricity Ministers Hassan Younis of Egypt and Khaled Toqan of Jordan met Saturday to discuss means of boosting bilateral cooperation in the field of electricity.

Toqan said he appreciates Egypt's exporting of 400 megawatt of electricity to Jordan when natural gas supplies stopped due to a malfunctioning pipeline.
