Global Arab Network - Hussain al Hajri is an outstanding landscape artist. Since Oman is full of unique scenic spots, it helps Al Hajri’s talent to easily turn every piece of land into beautiful works of art. His paintings are both realistic and imaginative. As a landscape artist, Hussain al Hajri uses trees, bushes, shrubs, flowers, ponds, valleys, mountains, sea shores, beaches and other natural and man-made elements to create a visually pleasing yet practical landscape. That Al Hajri is gifted with great creative and artistic talent is clear from his works of art.

Al Hajri’s landscape paintings reflect his exploration and fascination with the ever changing Omani landscapes. Whilst predominantly focused on tourists spots, his landscape photography and paintings also include picturesque mosques, museums and mountains from all over the Sultanate. Born in 1966 in Bidiya, Sharqiyah, Hussain al Hajri has seen much of the country and loves all parts of Oman. As an active member of Omani Society of Fine Arts (OSFA), Hussain al Hajri makes it a point to participate in all important painting exhibitions.

Hussain al Hajri has had active participation in the activities and exhibitions of Oman’s Youth Art Studio, Muscat Municipality, Al Harthy Complex, and in all youth sports and cultural activities. His leadership qualities and artistic talent were clear in his school and college days, thanks to his active role in all such activities. In addition to national exhibitions, Hussain al Hajri participates in international exhibitions. His contribution to the Omani Heritage Exhibition in France in 1994 was much appreciated.

Similarly, Hussain al Hajri won the hearts of organisers in the 1994 GCC exhibition in Sharjah, the Modern Art Expo in Indonesia (1995), A window on the World, USA, 1995, 2nd Omani Artists` Exhibition, Syria, 1995, 7th Binali Gallery, Bangladesh, 1995, 3rd Omani Artists` Expo in Tunisia, 1996 and Ministry of Culture and Heritage Contest in Saudi Arabia in 2005.

As for personal exhibitions, Hussain al Hajri has held several solo exhibitions in Bidiya. At these events, the visitors liked the paintings of cliff folds in coastal landscapes, which are stunning and attract thousands of visitors because of its natural beauty, and geological significance.

Hussain al Hajri has several awards to his credit, such as the 1st Prize from the Ministry of Culture and Heritage Contest 1988, 2nd prize from the General Organisation for Youth Sports and Culture Activities Contest 1993, 1st prize at the Sharqiyah contest 1989, among many other prizes. Way back in the 1980s, Al Hajri got inspiration to choose landscape painting as his field seeing the artistic beauty of Omani landscapes. Al Hajri started his painting works by drawing unique natural and scenic spots in the Sharqiyah region.

Today, Al Hajri is famous for the inventive way he creates paintings on well defined and specific themes, showcasing the beauty and uniqueness of Omani destinations. International artists and tourists have liked his paintings greatly. He is one of those landscape painters and drawing masters who are always on the lookout for natural beauty. (omanobserver)
