Global Arab Network - Oman Sultan chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers at Hisn Ash’shumookh castle yesterday. His Majesty the Sultan gave thanks and praise to the Almighty for the riches and bounties that He has bestowed on Oman. He prayed to the Almighty to assist all with His divine care so that the march of development will continue towards its prospective targets.
Then, His Majesty the Sultan gave his Royal directives for the establishment of a government university to be based on elaborate studies and to focus on scientific disciplines.

His Majesty assigned the ministers to prepare the required studies for the university so that it would play its role in the higher education march.

His Majesty also gave directives to develop other fields of education to make them rise to the expectations of the country. In this context, His Majesty laid emphasis on supporting training programmes and expanding technical and technology colleges to help open wide scopes for the country’s youths to qualify them to undertake their desired types of employment in order to gain positive revenues and, thereby, achieve good living standards.

In the meantime, His Majesty the Sultan stressed the need to develop the labour market and to streamline procedures for citizens’ transactions to be finalised in record time, while at the same time granting all areas of the Sultanate their due administrative importance.

In this context, His Majesty gave directives to finalise studies for the establishment of governorates in all regions of the Sultanate, as well as municipal councils in the governorates. Speaking about the monetary sector, His Majesty the Sultan approved the establishment of an Islamic Bank and the facilitation of procedures for existing banks in the Sultanate to open new branches if they wish.

His Majesty the Sultan also underscored the significance of the development of real partnership between the government and the private sectors with a view to pushing forward the march of economic and social development in the Sultanate.

Then, His Majesty reviewed developments in the regional and international arenas, hoping bounty, peace and prosperity will prevail for all peoples of the region so that they would be able to implement their developmental plans. His Majesty reaffirmed the Sultanate’s policy’s permanent fundamentals in its relationships with the countries of the world. He stressed the need for all efforts to establish constructive co-operation among countries in support for stability and prosperity.

His Majesty spoke about various issues of concern to the Sultanate and its citizens and underlined the importance of continuing work towards the accomplishment of the aspirations of the Omani people for welfare and prosperity.  (ONA)
