Oman, South Korea Exploring Engineering and Contracting Cooperation

Oman_delegation_visits_South_Korean_company
Global Arab Network - As part of the Business Umbrella Programme for 2011, the Omani delegation comprising public and private sectors which is currently visiting South Korean visited Gold Star Engineering and Contracting of Korea.

 The Omani delegation met with Sang Ring, Chairman of the company and the head of the Korean side at the Omani Korean Business Council. The two sides discussed the distinguished trade relations between the Sultanate and the Republic of Korea, as well as, the investment climate in the Sultanate, especially the projects unveiled in the A'Duqum Port and the major projects being implemented by the company in the Sultanate.

The chairman of Gold Star Engineering and Contracting company said that the Sultanate is witnessing a remarkable economic growth which is very clear from the major projects being implemented at the different governorates and regions in the Sultanate, as well as, the promising investment opportunities provided to companies by these projects.

He added that during the past years, the company has contributed to enhancing the skills and performance of the Omani human resources working for some companies in Sohar. He called on businessmen and entrepreneurs taking part at the visit to enhance their participation at the economic development process currently being witnessed by the Sultanate.

On his part, Dr. Abdullah bin Ali al Hinai, Director General of Industry at the Commerce and Industry Ministry pointed out that during the meeting Gold Star Engineering and Contracting company affirmed its interest in buying the Omani products and involving the Omani companies in the projects that will be implemented by the company in the coming period in the Sultanate particularly the expansion of the power plants in the wilayats of Barka and Sohar.

During the meeting, Hilal bin Hamad al Hasani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PEIE affirmed the importance of enhancing the cooperation between the two friendly countries that are linked by distinguished trade relations. He added that he is looking forward for more investments in the projects to be initiated in the Sultanate by the Korean companies in general and Gold Star Engineering and Contracting in particular.

The Omani delegation members taking part at the visit toured some sites at the company and reviewed the modern technologies utilized in construction. They also reviewed the safety and security system applied in the company as well as the basic skills to improve the construction process and maximize productivity. The company made a presentation on it and the major projects it has already and is carrying out in various parts of the world especially the company is one of the major construction companies in the world.

The delegation also visited the Korean Institute for Economic Development and reviewed the Korean experience in economic development from 1950 till date.

It is worth mentioning that the Omani delegation visit to South Korea is organized by the Commerce and Industry Ministry represented by the Directorate General of Industry in collaboration with the Korean International Centre for Cooperation to review the Korean experience in the field of industrial development. The visit is part of the Business Umbrella Programme 2011 which comes this year under the theme ‘leadership skills and building the Leading Personality. (ONA)
