Oman: Royal Cavalry participates at Pferd International Horse Show in Germany

Global Arab Network - The Sultanate represented by the Royal Cavalry at the Royal Court Affairs concluded its participation at Pferd International Horse Show. The performances by the male and female horse riders attracted the visitors of the show which was held at the Olympic Games city in Munich in Germany with participation of 1000 horses from 18 countries including the Sultanate, the only Arab participant at the Show.

The 28th edition of the Show has been a good opportunity for the participating countries to show their cultures, promote their tourism industries and showcase their cavalry sports activities.

The horsemen and women of the Royal Cavalry staged performances for the traditional horse sports namely Rakdh al Ardah, Tahoreeb and Humble.

The exhibition organized by the Royal Cavalry, the Tourism Ministry and Oman Air received good turn out by visitors of the festival who expressed their admiration of the silver and metal accessories designed for the horses. They inquired about the tourist attractions in the Sultanate, as well as, the services offered by Oman Air.

Dr. Zainab bint Ali al Qasimiyah , the Sultanate's ambassador in the Federal Republic of Germany said that the participation of the Sultanate represented by the Royal Cavalry has been very successful. ‘This is very clear from the masses that followed the performances of the Royal Cavalry horsemen and horsewomen and the great turn out for Royal Cavalry , Tourism Ministry and Oman Air's exhibitions, she added.

‘This participation has been a good opportunity for the Sultanate to show case its traditional heritage and interest of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and his government in caring for horses. The participation of the Omani horsewomen also cast light on the Omani woman's participation at the different sectors that became available for her, she furthered.

On his part, Brigadier Abdul Razak Abdul Qadir al Shahorzi, Commander of the Royal Cavalry said that the Royal Cavalry horsemen and horsewomen staged a number of traditional horse sports performances that showcased their skills and talents.

‘The performances organized at Munich Olympic Games City contributed to raising awareness of the world of the unique Omani traditional horse sports.

‘The participation aimed at introducing the Sultanate as a distinguished tourist destination. Many visitors inquired about the tourist attractions in the Sultanate and expressed their desire to visit the Sultanate, said Salim bin Udai al Maamari, Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Tourism Ministry.
