Global Arab Network - Bahrain’s human rights organizations, speaking up for a better Bahrain, has re-iterated the need to put right any human rights violations in the Kingdom, if the country is to retain its reputation and standing in the international business community for the future, Global Arab Network reports according to a press statement.

Mr Faisal Fullad, Secretary General of Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society (BHRWS), and Director General of Gulf European Centre for Human Rights, (GECHR) said “Human rights has no nationality, but is a required privilege of all humanity.   Strong human rights policies can be the back bone of this country and we urge the leadership to offer such privilege to all citizens of Bahrain, setting the Kingdom apart from other nations.  What we need to see now is the absolute abolishment of human rights violations in all circumstances by the establishment.   Where they lead, others will surely follow.”

Mr Fullad made the statement following the urging of The United States’ Secretary of State, Mrs Hillary Clinton for Bahrain to make good on its pledges regarding human rights after a meeting which took place between her and Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmed al-Khalifa where they discussed the full range of human rights issues that needed to be addressed.

A National Dialogue which took place between the leadership of Bahrain and its citizen’s has already highlighted a number of reforms which have been agreed.   However, the nation is yet to see direct reforms taking place and the human rights agencies in the country are calling for immediate implementation of these reforms to re-establish confidence in the nation’s progress.

Bahrain is also awaiting the result of an independent panel which was commissioned by His Majesty the King, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which was supposed to emerge on the 30th October but which has been delayed until the 23rd November 2011.  The report will assess whether the recent uprising in the country which took place in March 2011, involved rights violations and make recommendations to Bahrain's ruling family to take action accordingly.
