At some point in time, it was found necessary for the Arab minority that made the United Kingdom its home, to create a forum or a platform that draws together all the smaller diverse Arab groups. It was thought essential for these groups to promote their common goals,
their hopes and aspirations for achieving their objectives with which, as groups, they can identify and hence establish a recognizable community identity. It was only in this way that they thought they could preserve the best of their inherent culture, help with their integration into British society without total assimilation and at the same time maintain a cultural link between the local community and their cultural roots. They realised that this coming together would strengthen their voice when speaking in unison as a recognizable and sizable minority which has specific viewpoints and needs vis-à-vis issues that concern them either as groups or as individuals.
Consequently, a few educated and enlightened individuals from this minority got together to establish what is now known as "The Arab Club of Britain", the formation of which was announced on 1st June 1980 with the hope that British Arabs anywhere in the UK would find in this Club, among other matters, what they aspired for with respect to closer links with each other. The Club was later incorporated on 23rd November 1992 under the Companies Act 1985 as a company limited by guarantee and not having a share capital. Its registered office is in the United Kingdom and its registration number is 2767041 Milestones in the Development of the Club 1990 The First Arab Communities Conference 1992 1992 Formation of the Permanent Consultative Council of the Arab Communities Conference 1992 1992 Incorporation of the Club into a company limited by guarantee and not having A share capital 1993 The second Arab Communities Conference 1999 The third Arab Communities Conference
