Exposed: Muslim Brotherhood’s Bid to Control UK’s Arab Voice

The recent Arab Community Conference in Britain is sparking growing concerns about the Muslim Brotherhood’s infiltration and potential control over the voice of Arabs in the United Kingdom. While the group is designated a banned or terrorist organization in many Arab and Western nations, the UK’s liberal environment remains open to its ideological and organizational activities.

Signs of Covert Influence

Despite no overt mentions of Brotherhood doctrine in the conference’s official booklet, a detailed analytical study reveals strong indirect indicators of the group’s potential influence. The discourse notably emphasizes specific issues: political integration to boost Arab representation in local and parliamentary elections, the representation of what so called “Palestinian issue” exclusively  to  Hamas, and challenges related to identity and Islamophobia. These aren’t random topics; they’re consistent themes the Brotherhood has historically leveraged to expand its societal reach in Europe.

Furthermore, the absence of explicit Brotherhood terminology, such as “empowerment” or “caliphate,” might not signal a lack of ideological agenda. Instead, it could reflect the group’s tactic of political camouflage, awaiting the “moment of empowerment” often cited in their texts. Superficially, the conference appears to be a grassroots initiative. However, this framework — as seen in similar instances — might serve as a front for subtle ideological penetration, starting with rhetoric and ultimately aiming to control the Arab community’s representation, political decisions, and electoral power.

Leveraging Individuals and Issues

The study highlights other indirect indicators confirming this influence. The frequent presence of figures known for their affiliation or alignment with political Islam, some directly linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, serves as evidence of the conference’s ideological direction. Their involvement doesn’t seem arbitrary but rather part of a strategy to repackage the group’s narrative through fresh faces.

Moreover, the Muslim Brotherhood has consistently used the Palestinian issue as a tool for mass mobilization, a pattern clearly evident at this conference. Employing this issue for undeclared political objectives reflects a deeply ingrained traditional tactic within the group’s discourse, where public sentiment is exploited to build ideological legitimacy and expand organizational influence. Lastly, the absence of any mention in the conference documents of non-Islamic intellectual currents—such as secularism, liberalism, or Arab Christianity—raises legitimate questions about the potential for subtle exclusion of these components, which do not align with the Brotherhood’s political and intellectual vision.

Public Political Activity as a Front

The report identifies individuals who participated in the conference, some of whom have direct, intellectual, or institutional ties to the Muslim Brotherhood or its political agenda. The group’s reliance on a “grey alliance” of sympathetic but non-explicitly Brotherhood figures is considered one of its most dangerous methods for penetrating European spheres without direct organizational activity being detected.

Additionally, the conference’s declaration of intent to support Arab candidates for the British Parliament, while seemingly democratic, could be a preliminary step to empower a Brotherhood-aligned political project. This project, hidden behind representative slogans, effectively seeks to monopolize the Arab voice under a tightly controlled organizational umbrella.
